We’ve tested and tested and now it’s time to talk about it. If you’re the type that likes to push the limits then you can improve your DLP printer performance by 2-2.5x through a simple projector modification. Sure, you’re going to void the warranty but that’s probably gone anyway. Using a DLP projector for 3D printing doesn’t exactly fall withing the “guidelines” of most warranties. So why not take advantage and increase your printer output. Save time by speeding up printing. Increase output by having the ability to print successively, more frequently.
You might wonder just what kind of a change you need to make to achieve such impressive gains. Put simply, it’s a safety and longevity component that is being removed. This component is called the Hot Mirror. This piece of coated glass is attached to the projector bulb casing and reflects Infrared light that will otherwise allow a lot more heat to reach the DLP chip. Through our testing in a modest work environment we’ve found the benefits of this change to far outweigh the risks. So read more in the documentation below and decide if this huge benefit is something you want to take advantage of.
