We’re Back Up!

The site was down for about 24 hours while some upgrades were taking place. The whole process was a bit unplanned and we apologize for any inconvenience it may have cause anyone. This are running a bit faster now and we can actually work on the site to make it more efficient so please bear with any slowness as we will do our best to get it sorted out very quickly.   Here’s a great article I came across yesterday, sounds like printing conductive resin might be coming down the line! http://fabbaloo.com/blog/2013/6/4/a-resin-for-3d-printed-microelectronics.html

Our First, and Hopefully Only, Delays

It appears as if it finally has happened, our first delay/s have surfaced. Thankfully we have options to take care of them relatively quickly so we hope the impact is quite minimal. As it stands this evening we are without a functional laser cutter. After losing a good portion of the day troubleshooting the issues it seems like we are going to have to send the controller board in for replacement. The biggest disappointment is that we are going to lose a weekend of work. Aside from that we are still waiting on our Igus rods and bearings. We were supposed to have been sent a partial shipment if the whole order couldn’t be completed by May 27, but I still don’t have a ship

Moving Quickly

Hello everyone, It’s been a bit too long since I’ve last been online and posted a status update. It’s definitely not due to any idle time here at the shop. In the last week a lot has taken place and there are going to be a lot of details and updates coming in the next couple weeks. Some things to look forward to include us shipping our first kits, that should be within 2 weeks time as long as the last remaining parts arrive when they are due. We leased a proper work space and are moving in asap! Tomorrow we start painting and should be moving work benches in as well. There will be plenty of pictures to post so definitely watch for those

Laser Kits Out

As of today we have shipped all of the IndieGoGo campaign laser kits. So we are right on track as things continue to progress at great speed, the next thing on the list are the Ultimate Kits! We are still waiting on several parts and need to get to work on fabricating a couple more of the mUVe 1 components. Tonight we are cutting all of the UV Ovens on the laser cutter and by tomorrow should be working on the first parts of the printer cases. I think we already announced but we also have all of the colorful corrugated plastic for the Ultimate Kit recipients. . I have also continued printing in red and green resin and have a couple of very complex

Updates

Things are moving along very quickly at this point so it’s definitely time to share some of what we’ve been working on the past few days. First, The T-Shirts have been sent as well as a couple of the laser kits, look to the documentation page for build instructions. I am still working on contacting the rest of the “laser kit” customers to take care of the remaining shipping charges. All of the laser kits should be shipped by some time this weekend or early next week. We are still on track to be shipping machine kits on-time, the next couple weeks will tell all though. The Campaign contributors who ordered resin have also had their orders shipped out. Documentation has been getting started, please

The UV “Oven”

We managed to upload a lot of pictures today but will have to wait until tomorrow or Monday to put up a proper post about them. We also managed to finalize the UV Oven and get some pictures take of it. The Oven case material is the same 5mm plywood that is used on the rest of the case and it is of course laser cut.   Yoda catching some UV rays – Click the image for the full album       The internal dimensions are 375mm x 200mm x 170mm, so it should be plenty large enough for anything the mUVe 1 can print. The white sheet of paper is used inside the oven as a cheap way to protect the bottom of

First Perks Shipped

Today we shipped the first of our perks from the IndieGoGo campaign. All of our stickers and T-Shirts arrived and we took some time to ship out some of them. If you were one of the folks that contributed at the $10 level you will be receiving some stickers very soon. International orders may take a couple weeks to arrive. For those that contributed at the $30 level, you should receive your T-Shirt within a week. Shipments of those will be leaving on Monday. Following the stickers and T-Shirts will be the individual resin perks as well as the laser kits. Those should all ship out within a week. If you were one of the purchasers of these perks and you live outside the U.S.

Too Much To Cover

I haven’t been too vocal the past few days as it has been very busy here and some very important preparations have been getting handled. I will have to post several times over the next couple days in order to keep the post sizes to a minimum, and so I’m not covering too many topics at once. Just to give an idea of what is in store here is some of what has taken place. The UV Oven has been completed. Bearing tests are completed, Igus shafting appears to be the best choice too. The near final item list will be posted asap, source files still to come next month. Many parts have arrived, we are at about 85% of what we need. Any remaining

Chasing Gremlins

It’s been a rather tiring day so I am going to finally call it quits after I give this status update. Today was supposed to be the day that we tested new motors, hopefully the final motor for the kit, but ran into a really odd problem. Our motor supplier, who I have used for a couple years now and never have gotten a bad motor from, shipped us a massively faulty batch of motors. When I took pictures of the case yesterday I had taken time to solder up the new motors and install them, however I had overlooked taking the time to test how smooth they spun by hand. After several frustrating attempts to troubleshoot what I thought could be alignment issues or

mUVe 1 Case Complete

It’s finally time for the big reveal! It took a bit longer than expected today but it’s finally complete. Please take a look over everything and definitely leave us some feedback. mUVe 1 in its case ready to print!   Due to a problems on one of my older RAMPS boards I was unable to get a couple of prints completed that I needed to get done. Due to that I will be postponing the updated print images until tomorrow. Thankfully I was able to repair my broken board and should be running prints all night. I will have images of a handful of dark red resin prints with comparisons from the last run that was only lightly colored. I will also be moving on
